Amadeus people shower their communities with kindness

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is witnessing the countless ways the Amadeus family make the world a better place through their generous acts of volunteerism. As a global company, Amadeus has a decades-long history of supporting programs and partnerships that contribute to the wellbeing of the communities where we operate.

Across North America this fall, we took our commitment to a whole new level by participating in our company’s first global Amadeus Volunteer Day. In Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Orlando, Tucson and Portsmouth (NH), hundreds of Amadeus people gave their time on designated workdays to revitalize gardens, clean up beaches, help needy families – and much more.

Community of caring

For many colleagues, the best part was working together on teams to support their local communities. Camaraderie and collaboration sparked new friendships, and many said that working together made the day “fly by” – and lots of fun. For example, our people in Miami planted trees and scoured local beaches to clean up debris. Amadeus employees in Boston supported local schoolchildren by organizing supplies for the Cradles to Crayons project.

Other initiatives included:

  • Habitat for Humanity house building in Tucson
  • Community garden beautification in Dallas
  • Park cleanup, tree planting, mulching and fertilizing in Orlando
  • United Way Day of Caring – Portsmouth employees painted and refurbished school furniture
  • Chicago employees collected hotel mini-bottle toiletries for homeless shelters, military groups and schools

These are just a few of the many activities that have taken place across Amadeus in North America this year. As a company, we can all be very proud of the way we contributed our time, talents and resources to make a difference to so many worthy causes.

Growing our positive impact

As part of our global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework, Amadeus Volunteer Day this year has been linked to “green” causes. Our ongoing global campaign, “Green is the new blue,” has generated positive momentum, engaging many top management trailblazers along the way and more than 6,800 employees worldwide. “Green is the new blue” and Amadeus Volunteer Day reflect Amadeus’ long-term commitment to promote more responsible and sustainable development in the communities where we operate.

For me, serving as an #AmadeusVolunteer has been one of the highlights of 2019. I look forward to uncovering even more opportunities to serve in the new year. Thank you, Amadeus, for supporting our company – and your local communities – through generous volunteerism!
